Rel.Report is an independent publication launched in September 2026 by Fanny Willman, a journalist with an MA in Religious Studies living in New York. We look for religion everywhere: where we expect to find it, and where we don’t. Rel.Report is for anyone who wants to understand religion, and for journalists who need to understand it well enough to report on anything else.
The Report
Monday brings The Belief Brief, three questions and stories to watch in the week ahead; Tuesday, The Argument, making a case about religion, religious life, or how religion is understood; Wednesday, The Number, one statistic that tells us something about religion; Thursday alternates between Elsewhere, one piece worth reading from somewhere else, and The Long Read, reported and personal essays; and Friday, The Short Read, finding religion in unexpected places.
The Religious Analphabet Award
Every Saturday, Rel.Report recognizes an outstanding achievement in getting religion wrong. The award goes to a person, publication, institution, or organization demonstrating a particularly memorable failure of religious literacy.

Rel.Report welcomes pitches and submissions. We are especially interested in Short Reads (up to 600 words) that find religion in unexpected places, Long Reads (1,000+ words) that report deeply on religion, and Arguments that make a clear case about religion, religious life, or the way religion is understood.
We believe writing is a form of thinking, not merely a way of expressing thought. Please do not use generative AI to write, rewrite, or develop your submission.
